Alagaesia Online Soundtrack

This has been an issue on my mind since the start of the game itself. . .

You see, I'm a real Video Game Music fan, and what I would like help in deciding is what we're going to use for the game's soundtrack.

Spaniard's answer to me before was only vague, and said that we'd might just use 8-bit versions of other movie or VGM tracks.

Though, that might also be bad, since it could lead to copyright troubles, and some people would not like it that we're just using already recognizable soundtracks to fill in our need.

Or we could just go without any soundtrack at all. What would you think?

Oh, it deffinitely needs music to it but it needs to be good music in the sound track, not too annoying but generic enough to suit everyone. If it turns out to be heavy metal....I'll leave, lol.

But, I would prefer that either it would be something that would not be recognizable, nor generic. The music of a video game usually will make or brake it, so I'd like it to be something that would either be seldom used, or even, original.

I don't know if he would do it, but I have a friend from youtube who creates his own musical soundtracks, along with remixes of others. He has quite a few original pieces himself, and if he would be up to the challenge, or even, if anyone here would try and at least make some ideas for a soundtrack.

If we could create an original soundtrack, that would also add to the game's popularity. I'd do some, if I could actually write music.

Yeah, we could also mix together other WORLDESS soundtracks, so it sounds great. When we first get into this...we'll have a bit of music replaying for EACH place like...The Spine...Dras Leona...etc...Then we'll have some for each village in there, and maybe some for each specific road. LATER LATER LATER LATER on, we could have it change during night or day.

It shouldn't be anything like Heavy Metal, County, Rap, etc., because you just don't use general music like that in games; it just doesn't sound right.

It needs to be a bit like Runescape in the general style of music, in my opinion. Like Blodh said, we could have music for different areas.

Hmmmm, I smell contest number 2 coming up!!!! We can easily have members make soundtracks on Garage Band or a similar program. Many can be found free online that are decent.

Good idea, and before anyone warns me that my last post was pretty much spam...I'll say this......Yeah go ahead and warn me I'm feeling confrontational today and I have my banhammer ready, lol.

I'll try my hand at making a song or two if I can find something free to do it with. I have a couple of ideas that could be really neat.

There are versions of these for free, but they don't have as much features, and is usually only a trial edition.

If we can get a good soundtrack going, that would make this game more epic by ten fold. (No one person has to do the soundtracks for everything. A single piece per location would be fine. Maybe some battle music to be preferred first.)

PS Alf, maybe for night time, we can just do like a ambiance track, and have no music at all. It really works for a night setting, and for all cave and even the ice cap areas, no music and ambiance at all.

The night setting sounds like a good idea. Maybe there can be a little sound of what you would hear at night, like wolves howling, crickets chirping, etc.

So, continuing on, I would really like for someone to try any free music making software and at least give ideas on a soundtrack. Our goal here is to not copy music from other sources, which would only cause dissatisfaction (You cannot believe how much music can cause the making or breaking of something) or even, copyright issues, which we cannot afford.

So, I still await any ideas. Remember, programs like FL Studio and Finale Notepad are really good, and powerful programs to do such things. Though, FLS is really complex, so you'd have to have at least some experience before attempting it.

I really wish I could do some myself, but I am clueless when it comes to creating music and reading and writing notes. . .

Yeah, so am I, I think we're going to have to live with the fact that we'll probably have to use something already existing instead of making our own. I looked at a couple of free programs and it was way over my head. I couldn't even see any way of remixing music.
Couple that with the fact that I'm not sure how to even transfer the music files if I could make them and we have a pretty hopeless situation for custom music.

I know a guy on Youtube that not only knows these programs in and out, but he also makes his own custom pieces. I don't know if he'd be up to it, but he could probably help us in this dilemma. You see Alf, the reason why I don't want to do music from another source is because it would cause trouble with the players and with the owners of the music themselves. The LOTR soundtrack is specifically copyrighted, as well as any other RPG music that I could find.

Im going to steel a couple of my cousin's garage band tracks. They are pretty good.
