Quests

I agree with Argetlam Tre...you shouldnt be able to obtain a Rider's blade. You can have it in you're inventory when you're carrying it back from a quest of some sort, but you cant equip it or sell it. You can only give it to the Order. When you do give it to the Order, they will give you you're reward for completing the quest. So there will really be no reason to hold on to it. And if you're killed while transporting it, you wont drop it.

CLEANED (though i didnt know how to consolidate the "Kage and FE post/repost" a few pages ago, so i just left it.)!

I wish there were more suggestions in here. At the moment, I'm formulating a new quest but when I work out all of the kinks I'll let you know. And, I'll keep posting here as long as others do.

Format:- Assassination & cover - up type quest.

Difficulty:- VERY hard. *Only for people with very high reputation & the ability to keep a secret.*

Overview:- The Order has all of a sudden began increasing their visits to all cities/towns/villages by several fold, & rumors are going around that even Vrael & his dragon have visited Ilirea a few days back. When you ask the Riders of the Order in your locality about it, all they tell you is that a group of highly noted Illuminators suddenly gone twisted have gained knowledge about the existence of a very powerful magical object (for our convenience, the Eldunarya), & they are threatening to release the information to the masses. After refusing to reveal more information, you go to Ilirea & ask the Riders to request an audience with Vrael. Vrael, on entering the room, asks you if you are truly ready to earn the favor of the Riders. After you agree (that is, if you want to), he will tell you that they have just received information that there might be a very powerful group of NPC Shades involved.....

Reward(s):- Favor of the Riders (that is, Riders (including rogue ones) will be more friendly to you & might even aid you in one quest (suggest changes if not suitable)), 2500 crowns (this is a rough figure, you can suggest changes) & (if you guys agree) a weapon made with some amount of Brightsteel. But on the flip side, the Riders will make swear in the AL that you will never reveal the nature of your quest to anyone.

What do you think??

I want to basically come up with a quest chain, but use my own format for it. Hope you won't have any problems with it. Before I do that chain, however, I will start with some simple random quests that I invent on the run.

Quest:Zilan's predicament
Quest giver: Zilan, a local light armor merchant

Psss, you there. You be lookin' like a stout fella eh?
*Zilan analyzes you thoroughly and frowns*
Ye insolent boy, lookin at me with dat arrogant look. But even arrogance can be pu' to good use, an' I happen to know just tha thing.
*Zilan coughs sickly and grips your shoulder*
Say, will ye take care of somethin' in me stead?

Completion: 200 xp

Quest:Maedis, terror of the local tavern

*Zilan rubs his hands contentedly*

I like yer persistence, boy, maybe ye can be me right hand of vengeance and reestablish peace to a certain place I can't go anymore.

Boar's Tusk, the local tavern, be my favorite place to drink good ale an' feast on da delicious morsels. But dat blasted drunkard Maedis wouldn't let me! Da details do not matter to you. All there is to know is that Maedis always be hangin around with his pals, spilling drinks and breaking plates. You won't have a hard time getting his attention. If anything, toss dis mug in his face, and be sure to hit him!

Objective: Use Zilan's tankard to summon's Maedis attention, then defeat him in a battle.

Rewards: 500 xp.

It's good, sinitar, but you have to follow the standard format of quest submission, which is:-

Format:- Assassination, rescue, etc.

Difficulty:- Easy, medium, hard, very hard (or you can use the standard levels if you're able to remember them *I wasn't*. They are, in increasing order of difficulty:- Page, Squire, Knight & Master).

Overview:- I guess you understand what I meant by overview. Describe your quest(s) clearly so that others can easily understand it. Mention with details the exact objective(s) of your quest.

Reward(s):- Again, not much to explain, except that Rider swords will not be allowed to be rewards.

I think that's about it. Check out the quest I posted in this thread on page 4 if you didn't understand the above explanation. Hope to see many more quests from you .

Thanks Thorn, but one thing I like the most about creating quests is that they address you. Sure, writing a general plot idea is even easier, but it doesn't sound as interesting as a quest that directly refers to your character in that world. After all, that's what quests are: requests. About difficulty, I think we should only add that for harder quests, because the one I made was pretty easy. And the Format should be optional, since you get the objectives at the end of the quest text anyway.

Name: The Hunt for the Shrrg (sp?)

Dificulty on a 1-5 scale: 3-4

Description of plot, etc.
Talk to Hrothgar,he will ask you to hunt 1 Shrrg which has been bothering a number of dwarves around Bregan Hold. To prove you have actually killed a Shrrg, bring back a claw. Talk to Hrothgar to complete the quest.

Reward: (XP, money, item, etc.)
Medium amount of xp, medium amount of crowns and a _____ (Dwarven Puzzle ring or Urgal Horn Bow+Arrows)

My idea was that there would be a series of hunting quests, say 10 for each place as in the Beor Mountains (Hrothgar will give them), Dras Leona and Belatona (Given by the governor), Ellesmera (Given by Evandar or Izlandzadi), Doru Araeba (given by Vrael) and Surda (Given by the King of Surda) as well as one for Yazuac or Cuenon (Given by the town elder)...

The quests would increase in difficulty... Once you reach say lvl 5 you get the first hunting quest for Cuenon, then when you complete all 10 there, you get the first quest for Dras Leona/Belatona... When you complete those ten you get the quest for Surda, then for the Beor Mountains, then Ellesmera and then for Doru Araeba.

it makes sense. this would make a good level basis for the game. almost a fallback way to gain experience. If we used this method, the quests could not be worth much in rewards, other than the exp that the monsters provide. Having played several games over the years, players excel much faster when they are told what to do. if they have some sort of fall back method, people will be much happier. (even if they ammount of exp is no different than just killing monsters.)

Well the experience would come much from the quests individually... But when you complete all 10 for each city!

Thats what i mean, sorry If I was unclear. But I was saying that the quests (if they are made) should not give much (or any) more exp than normally hunting monsters would do.
