Re: Sorcery
Hmm...good points FE and company, lol. I want to know what Span says about all this. He was on the other day but didn't post hardly anything.
Re: Sorcery
AHA!!!!!!!!!!!
Okay, so you become a shade, your levels are there, and all, and you run around, etc. Now, when you die by either an NPC, OR a strike to the heart (how to kill shades thread). Then, when they are truly killed, they revive and all, BUT, they are not a shade and their levels are the same as before. If they become a shade, they have to start all over again for their shade levels.

Re: Sorcery
I like it Mindrop, but what if you miss the heart? Do they randomly spawn in someplace in Alagaesia? I think they should. This is a good balance to the eldunari/dragon death limits, and I think it should be implemented

Re: Sorcery
Right, if you miss, they randomly respawn, still a shade. No drop or anything. Now, the better/higher level you are, the better your chance at hitting the heart is.
Ohhh, Also, anyone can attack a shade. You do not have to be lower than their level.

Re: Sorcery
MD, does that mean a shade can attack anyone? Or are the limitations still there?

Re: Sorcery
If you stab a Shade through the heart (or whatever you're planning to do for that), I think that if that Shade re - spawns back into a sorcerer, he/she should be at a slightly higher level than before he/she became a Shade. Otherwise the person might feel that becoming a Shade will be pointless if/when they get killed. My opinion.

Re: Sorcery
Exactly! People need to know that being a shade comes with its disadvantages! I guarantee that even if we keep some of these really strict rules, there will still be many people that become shades.

Yes, I know that Fam, but I feel that they should deserve at least SOME kind of experience by becoming a Shade.

Re: Sorcery
Wait, so anyone, even a higher level, can attack a shade?
You shouldn't lose your stats when you get stabbed through the heart. There isn't a level limit, so you could become drastically weaker if you had gained a lot of levels as a Shade. We shouldn't make it to where nothing ever happened.

Re: Sorcery
No. Then every single person in the game would become a shade just for the level boost and there is no disadvantage to becoming one. If you die while you are a super-powerful being, you need a punishment of some sorts.

Re: Sorcery
Not really. They should get some amount of experience by being a Shade even if they are stabbed through the heart (or whatever you're planning to do for that). I reckon maybe a few levels (no more than five). *Is five levels too much??*

Re: Sorcery
There is no level boost to becoming a Shade. You still have to train, as a Shade, to be able to obtain their abilities. We already have Shades losing control when the user is offline, which is plenty punishment enough.

Re: Sorcery
No, that's not what I meant. If a Shade is killed completely (the following idea already exists), they would re - spawn as their human form. What I said was that when they would re - spawn as a human after being killed in a heart stab, then they should have a level increase (like I said no more than five levels). And maybe some stats increase. To the stats & level they had BEFORE they became a Shade.

I was referring to Famoosh's post, not yours, Thorn.
Either way, we need Span to confirm or veto anything.

Re: Sorcery
The Idea is that shades will be easy to obtain. Easier than riders. So, we need some drawbacks to the shade issues, and putting their levels to preshade levels will create a drawback, though for those not wanting to be a shade, it can help. When you turn shade, you will be very powerful. We need something to balance that. the riders work for their power.
Re: Sorcery
Yeah, but you won't be starting out with you're pre - Shade level & stats, now would you?? You'll have to go through training all over again. That's punishment enough to me (even though I'm not becoming one, I shudder to think about training your character at least twice). It's double torture, training your pre - Shade self to become strong enough to be a Shade, & then train your Shade self to match or beat your pre - Shade level & stats. And if you die through a heart stab, all that work goes down the drain. Which is why I said that players should get a slight increase in level & stats to their pre - Shade selves when their Shade selves die of a heart stab.

Re: Sorcery
First off I'm not going to have Shades lose any sort of levels/stats when they die, it would be extremely unfair because someone can just follow around one(and by somone I mean a better player) and just kill them over and over again until they lose everything.
One thing I am putting in though, is having the exp they receive cut drastically so that they take a much, much, longer time leveling then any other class or character in the game. The random wandering when you log out does sound good though, I'll have to devise of a system to work that out but it will be on my to-do list.
I am still debating on what kind of disadvantages to give the shades, but nothing that makes then lose stats.

SPANIARD LIVES!!!!! YES, lol....good to see ya again captain.
I hope you don't get perturbed about us debating things you haven't even brought up but at least we're working on stuff.
Anything you don't like just say no, it won't crush anyone...at least I hope not, lol. We all realize you're the one that has to do the coding and thats not easy so....yeah..no worries.

Re: Sorcery
Okay so how much wondering around are we talking about?? A little bit I think is fair but I would be seriously rattled if I was traveling and was forced to log out before I reached my destination and then logged in a few hours later to find myself right back where I started. Also, if I were to log out and then log back in and find myself in someplace where level 200's dwell, I would be quite mad.

Re: Sorcery
We are talking quite a bit, but you would not wander into extremely bad areas. I think it would depend on the time you were gone.
Re: Sorcery
Besides under the game rules you would be perfectly fine in an area of 200's as long as you didn't try to attack them.
