Hello Everyone,
I was sent over here by Brisineo (at least thats what he is called on IF)...

I have taken an interest in this game and will do all I can to help get it running...
I have experience in computers (thats for sure) but not much in the area of games... (sorry guys)
However I am willing to learn all I can! (Thats a Plus for sure)

So,
I know there are two main parts to games, the code and the art... (Am i right?) Well, hopefully I will be able to help somewhat with both...

On IF, I am into the creative arts section (Graphics and Inheritance Fan-fiction)... *A cheer goes up from the crowd*

So I saw you guys need a new Pixel Artist... I can do Art, but I have never NEVER tried my hand at Pixel art... Though from graphics I know that 32x32 is a crazy small canvas! *gulp*

Anyways, I look forward to chattin with yall over here on AO... But you should throw in a Forum for this on IF (I would probably participate more over there, considering I started joining forums because of IF...)

Welcome to AOF! Yes, 32x32 is pretty small, but its just enough for a game. Anyway, we have a few graphic artists on here now, so maybe we'll get you guys to work together to make something we need. Also, you're forgetting another big part of the game. The development lol. We are still collaborating on ideas for the game, then we can code and add the art. So, help out where ever you can for the develpomental stages! Again, welcome to AOF!

Ohh, I didn't know you had development to work on! I would love to help with that!

A thought that just occurred, I hear you want to get a closed beta out ASAP right?

Well, why don't you start with Carvahall... Build the maps and game in the order the books go through places... I know your Game doesn't follow the books as it takes place during the time of the rider (I did my reading right? Rascal )

And Ya I've seen you over there DM...

We would love to get a beta out, unfortunetely our coder, The Spaniard/Span, doesn't have a computer cause his broke down. So the games progress has been going downhill ever since then. We have still managed to find other things to talk about though, primarily development

When does he expect to get a new computer?

Well, is there a written out plan or anything for the game? or is it pretty much in peoples heads?

Because otherwise, a written overview should be done...

Anyways, IF is down... O.o So I'll be on AO tonight familiarizing myself with the rest of the forums and the game... xD

As for things to work on, learn .java? incase we decide to switch game platforms. (its a possibility if production completely stops, who knows.)
hopefully we can keep going, but hey, who knows. And for the art aspect of things, refer to the pixel art thread to see whats needed. Good luck!

Hello and welcome to AOF!
Brisineo is one of our very valued members here and uses the same name here as well. Most of us use the same handle here as on IF.
We had a thread for AO over at IF for a long long time until Mike and Thorin and company saw fit to harrass us into leaving and making a place of our own here. Which has really worked out great, our little forum here is now being listed pretty high up in the search engines it looks like so maybe traffic will pick up here as well.
You're right, 32x32 canvas size sucks bigtime but not much we can do about it. Spaniard has some friends from college building him a PC last I heard a couple weeks ago, no news since then as far as I know.
We currently have a quest contest up and going, I doubt we can have too many quest ideas and the winner gets a spot on the Beta test team. Other than that just throw ideas out on the table and ask if you have any questions.

Well, I did post a quest idea (somewhere, but now I can't find it)... It is more of a series of quests... But they feed off each other... They are more of quests that will progress as you level up... They are hunting quests..

They would start in Carvahall when you reach level 5... You would get a quest to talk with a village elder. They would direct you to hunt 5 deer. The reward for the first quest would be small xp and money... Then you would get another quest when you complete than one to hunt 5 of something harder... And so on, slowly descreasing, YES DECREASING the number to hunt 1 (insert something difficult here)... It would be somewhere between 5 and 10 quests long... When you complete all 10 for Carvahall you would get a substantial reward, say a nice sword or something special, maybe a quest only object that is trade able, but can only be earned through the quest otherwise...

After you complete all 10, you would get a hunting quest for another city...

The List of Cities/Places for Hunting Quests=

2)Teirm/Dras Leona/Belatona

5)Beor Mountains
-Nagra

-The flying thing in Eldest

Well, as it sounds like a good bit of code work/learning has been done, I hope we don't have to switch platforms...

My Questions:
How will the classes be based? Off of skills, like strength, dexterity and intelligence, will, luck and such or off of level?

And regarding Hp or health and energy, will you be able to earn/gain health and energy (for casting magic) as you level and your character grows?

Will you be able to become multiple classes, say a warrior who knows magic and range... So Melee/Mage/Range or just Melee or a combination of two... Because Eragon does all 3 so...

We need a few samples of characters to start with, at some point we'll have to get them all organized and draw and animate them all in every concievable pose in the game with all the different armors.

Yes, correct size, it has to fit within the 32x32 space, no larger...smaller is okay.
