Should there be a bounty mod?
Bounty Mod
I think that just to keep bounties from being placed for stupid reasons, there should be a bounty mod. All bounties are submitted to him/her and then he/she decides if the bounty has a good reason or not. What do you think?

Re: Bounty Mod
I had suggested something like this a long time ago in one of our discussions. We don't want people having bounties on their head just because they breath. That said, it'll be hard to police bounties as a whole. We'll give this some more thought and discussion though. It'll be interesting to read comments here!

Re: Bounty Mod
I like the idea, but I have one issue. The bounty mod could easily spend most of his time accepting/denying bounties, assuming the game gets large like we want. As Alf said, we will give thismoe thought.
Re: Bounty Mod
There could be several bounty mods, whom's name could be up on notice boards around cities, so then you could just pm him or her with your bounty.

Re: Bounty Mod
Actually I was thinking more along the lines of having a mod councel and having the bounties submitted to that counsel for approval. Then whatever mods is online at that time can review them and approve or dismiss them.
The real problem is going to be one persons word against another, I guess their should be evidence if the perp actually stole something or something like that but the reasons for putting a bounty out on soemone will go beyond that...so...whose word will we use to decide whether or not a bounty is justifiable. Not everyone will tell the truth obviously.

Re: Bounty Mod
I guess the user submitting the bounty to the council would present his evidence on why he/she needs a bounty on their heads, and majority vote gets the bounty passed.

Drekea-
If they can't be denied, someone will put a bounty on Steve123 cuz his armor's better than theirs. There's no telling what stupid people would do.
Mindrop-
I considered that and would gladly take the job and dedicate my time to it if it's ok. I have 3 study halls at school and so usually get homework done there. So I have lot of time on my hands.
Alfre-
Ya. I remember you posting something about it.
How exactly would the council work?
All-
I didn't think you should be able to put bounties on people for stealing from you.

Re: Bounty Mod
AT-
If you read the thieving thread, you will see it is a general concensis for not being able to rob other players or their banks. No one will most likely be able to steal from other players, eliminaiting them.
How would bounties work, if only lower levels can attack other people, then how woul the bounties work? Would everyone be able to attack that person?
I think a better I dea would to have only one person at a time go for the bounty. If they fail, then the bounty is given to the next willing person. That way, it does not get chaotic with high randomly whacking those with bounties on their head every time they see them appear.

Re: Bounty Mod
Mm, I don't know, one person at a time seems really mundane. There has to be a better solution.
Re: Bounty Mod
Okay, well the numbers could be higher. The idea is that you have to move fast to get the person and you limit it by having a small number go after him. Otherwise, Joe123 would runhis mouse over steve123 and see that he has a bounty on his head and attack him right then and there.
Also, I think bounties should only last a little bit, other wise, no one could survive a bounty on their head. Also, that person can not have a bounty on their head for certain amount of time, etc.

Re: Bounty Mod
Bounties defintly needed some supervision, for reason already mentioned. I like Alfre's idea.

Re: Bounty Mod
Having bounties up for a short amount of time would ruin the purpose of having a bounty. The person being hunted could easily hide in some hole for the whole bounty period and that's it.
Bounties will go until finished.
And I don't want an overly complicated system for the bounties. Most likely you'll only be able to put a bounty on someone who has previously killed you. Then you go to a city hall, place the bounty and it appears in every major cities' bulletin board

Sometime in the future though it would be nice to have a super complicated system for everything

Re: Bounty Mod
I think what Span said is that you'll go to a city hall where he'll have a simple interface, when you issue the bounty it'll appear on the bulletin on every major city. He can probably program it to where it will only accept a bounty placed by the killee on the killer?.
So no, if thats the case there will be no need for a bounty mod, the programmed interface and bulletin board will do it.

Re: Bounty Mod
Hmm. . . This is kinda confusing. What about PvP areas?
One thing I don't want though, is for some guy who was reckless and faced off against someone much more powerful then him to take revenge by putting as large of a bounty on that guy's head as he could allow. . .
We need some limitations and exceptions here.

The pic is a little unfitting in my eyes for AO. . . If I was doing it. . . I would make it like a dragon or knight.
