Re: Ideas for Spells
If skills are made to lvl up than it depends on the lvl of the skill if not i'd say about 5 procent of your health so the more health you have the more damage it makes. If you think it's unbalanced you can balance it however you want to
(hmm if you think it's ublanced you can make it for a really high level or something)

Re: Ideas for Spells
Well that's just it. It all depends on how much health that person has. 5% of 100 isn't all that much. I'll have to tweak it though

Re: Ideas for Spells
Meh. I am staying out of this magic section. You do not want me here. I will b a mage, but I am certainly not goo at comign up with spells. My passion lies in Weapons and Armour.
Time to work on the Berserker Armour.
Time to work on the Berserker Armour.
Re: Ideas for Spells
And that is where I should come in. I have a knack for spells, but I kinda use loopholes, so I don't know if we should add them or not onto this game. . .
But, to start off, I have some simple ones to discuss.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Invisibility
Type: Passive
Power: Weak
When the user mutters this spell, light is bent around him/her, so they become invisible on the map from any other player. The user's energy slowly drains as they do this though, and their minds are still visible to any mindbreakers or magicians.
The amount of time a user can stay invisible is dependent on the amount of energy they possess. A higher level player can go longer invisible than a lower level player.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Mind Block
Type: Passive
Power: High
The user uses this spell to block their minds with magic, making their minds invisible and impenetrable from any mindbreaker or magician's assault. The initial cost for this spell is high, leaving the user drained, and can only last for short periods. If user has enough energy, this spell combined with an invisibility spell, can make the user totally invisible to other players and units for a limited time.
The initial amount of energy used to create the spell decreases when the level of the user increases.
~~~~~~~~~~
Pain
Type: Passive
Power: Low-High
The user mutters a spell against their opponent, causing them to go into severe pain. Decreasing the speed and energy of the opponent, depending on the power of the spell given. The spell gives an advantage of speed to the user and also if the situation is dire, a chance to escape without the use of much energy.
The spell has a limited amount of time before it wears off, or drains too much energy, and is easily blocked by wards.
~~~~~~~~~~
Pebble launch
Type: Agressive
Power: Medium-high
Special: Accuracy is low/ counts as a ranged attack
The user picks up a pebble from the ground and flings it at high speed with magic. Although the chances of hitting the intended target is small, the pebble can do a devastating amount of damage to the opponent, or if they are protected by wards, the pebble can decrease their strength or deactivate them nearly instantly, depending on the strength of the wards themselves.
~~~~~~~~~~
Wards (Projectiles)
Type: Passive
Power: Low to High
The user places a ward around him/herself against projectile attacks such as arrows. The amount of energy put into the ward becomes the amount of life force it has; The more energy, the longer it lasts.
It takes half of the initial amount of energy it began with when deactivated from an overwhelming assault.
~~~~~~~~~~
Wards (Physical)
Type: Passive
Power: Low to High
The user places a ward around him/herself against physical attacks such as strikes from a sword or hits from a hammer. The amount of energy put into the ward becomes the amount of life force it has; The more energy, the longer it lasts.
It takes half of the initial amount of energy it began with when deactivated from an overwhelming assault.
~~~~~~~~~~
Wards (Magical)
Type: Passive
Power: Low to High
The user places a ward around him/herself against magical attacks whether if passive or aggressive. The amount of energy put into this ward will count as half of the life force this ward will have, and when attacked the ward's energy will decrease depending on the power of the attack given.
The amount of energy put into this ward shall be taken out of the user's current energy stock when deactivated from overwhelming assault.
Re: Ideas for Spells
Yeah but it also causes 20% health damage to you..anyways what i meant was 15% for all of the 4 bolts. And you could cast it like..4 times. So it sure would cause 60% health damage to the opponent at the end of all the 4 attack but also you wouldn't have that much health left. Not to mention the energy and level it would take to cast it.
Re: Ideas for Spells
I got more. . .
~~~~~~~~~
Scrying (Lv1)
Type: Passive
Power: Low
The user calls forth a pool of water or a shiny surface and scrys a location or person. (A window opens up, showing the item of interest)
This is the most basic version, where only sight is perceived, and can only be held for a few moments.
*Will only be able to see areas of the map the player has been to, or people he's seen. All things that the user has not seen will be shown in white.
~~~~~~~~~~~
Scrying (Lv2)
Type: Passive
Power: Low/Medium
The user calls forth a pool of water or a shiny surface and scrys a location or person. (A window opens up, showing the item of interest)
This is the second level of scrying. Able to view sight longer, and can eavesdrop in on nearby chat.
*Will only be able to see areas of the map the player has been to, or people he's seen. All things that the user has not seen will be shown in white.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Scrying(Lv3)
Type: Passive
Power: Medium
Special: Long distance chat
The user calls forth a pool of water or a shiny surface and scrys a person or location.
This is the highest level of scrying, allowing maximum viewing time. If the player being scryed upon has a scrying mirror, (purchasable item) they can engage in a conversation over any distance.
*Will only be able to see areas of the map the player has been to, or people he's seen. All things that the user has not seen will be shown in white.
~~~~~~~~~
(For all scrying spells: There will also be items that if worn, will prevent anyone from scrying you, or making you visible on a scrying player's screen. If you wish to become visible to scrying spells to them [excluding scrying mirrors] you must take off or deactivate your warded object)
I'll keep you posted on my ideas. . .
That's AMAZING Bris...but one thing, won't people be able to talk from afar anyways...? Plus, what'd you be eavesdropping?
Amazing ideas anyways, just trying to even it up.
Re: Ideas for Spells
Chatting with someone is very limited in range, (I believe it's with only whomever is in your screen) and mental range also has it's limits.
The Scrying mirror can be used anywhere and at any time, so you can chat with someone that has one even if both of you are on opposite sides of Alagaesia.
And the 2nd level Scrying allows you to "Hear" the chatter going on in that area if there is any. So you could spy on someone and the things he says if he's not protected. If he is, you won't be able to hear them.
Of course, you can prevent it all by just buying a fair priced Anti-Scrying Necklace, and be done with it. But if it's stolen when you're killed, you have to get another one. . .
I'll come up with more soon. . .
I think it should be a quest. Maybe I'll make it a reward from one of my spy storyline quests!
Re: Ideas for Spells
fe can you make three spy quests, progresivly harder. Starting. 3,3,4. The 4 difficulty would be for the assassin class. Also, it would be the same employer.
Re: Ideas for Spells
I planned to do it from the same employer.
So you want the quests to be 3, 3, 4, and have the 4 Difficulty quest for an Assassin? I guess so, but the storyline may go further than three quests.
Yeah...sounds cool...I think we -do- need more damage spells, since we can make more passive ones as we go along.
Re: Ideas for Spells
Lets see. . . My mind has been dwelling on the 12 death words. . . Hm. . . I came up with something that should be adequate, but to keep it simple, let's just keep them simple by just using one spell.
Death spell. (Instant)
Type: Aggressive
Power: Extreme
Special: Learned only by a high level Rider/ easily defended against
The user mutters one of the twelve death words, and instantly kills their opponent with little energy. Though, the wards against this spell makes it easy to defend against, unless the wards were brought down by some other means.
*The wards that defend this spell is Wards (Magical) if they are brought down by overwhelming assault, the opponent is vulnerable to this spell.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Adurna Rïsa
Type: Passive
Power: Low
Special: quenches thirst
The user summons a pool of water out of the ground to drink from. The spell requires little energy and it quenches the need for water; can be used anywhere.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Adurna Skölir
Type: Passive/Guard
Power: Varied
The user forms a shield of water/ice to block the Opponent's attack. The power of the shield is dependent on how dry the land is and the strength of the user.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ice Spear
Type: Aggressive
Power: Varied
Special: Counts as a ranged attack
The user summons a spear of ice out of the water from the ground and flings it towards his opponent. The strength of the attack is dependent on how dry the surrounding land is, and the strength of the User's attack.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Now onto fire!
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Brisingr iet tauthr
Type: Passive
Power: Low
Special: Light
The user creates a colored werelight above them, lighting dark areas. (Maybe there can be caves, or other places where you need a light to see)
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Brisingr (Charged Attack)
Type: Aggressive
Power: Varies
The user creates a charged fireball in his hands. This spell can be held to a certain extent, the longer the time to charge, the more powerful it will be. But if hit, the attack disappears.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Brisingr (Wave attack)
Type: Aggressive
Power: Med-High
Special: Unguardable, unless with wards.
The user creates a large wave of fire in front of him towards the Opponent. This attack is unguardable and undodgeable, unless the opponent is protected by wards, which take the hit.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
I'm out of Ideas for now. Take those in and see what you think. . .
