Re: Second Quest Contest
Bit much, probably. But do not worry about it so much. One thing when making rewards, they need to be generic. now, if they are rider or mage specific, then that is it, if you are not, then you probably can not do the quest (or wont want to) anyway.
Re: Second Quest Contest
Which is why I put in specific rewards for both mage/Rider or warrior, so that BOTH would be able to do the quest & not feel ..... unrewarded. But that's just me.

What about someone who uses a bow? Would they get the projectile deflecting armor as well?

Re: Second Quest Contest
Yes, they would. I grouped rangers under warriors, since I was concentrating more on mages & non - mages while I was typing it yesterday. But for rangers, it wouldn't be too heavy to wear, like full mail or steel plate. They would get lighter armor, like leather backed up with mail or something of that sort (I'm not good at archer armors, so don't actually listen to me ). Lighter armor, but with the same enchantments.

Re: Second Quest Contest
I liked it Thorn. I dont really know what else to say, because Im excited to get my new quest out of the way. THIS QUEST IS VERY LONG! AGAIN! DO NOT READ IF COMPUTER IS CRAP! IT MIGHT CRASH! You have been warned. EDIT: Not as long as I make it seem, just like typing in caps, and it would look weird to say that its medium long in all caps.
Here goes:
Here goes:
- Spoiler:
- Format: Substance destruction
Difficulty: Page
Overview: News is spreading around the city of Gil'ead quickly. An incredible concotion has been born. One man has discovered a new type of powder, one that could change all of Alagaesia forever, unless you can stop him.
Step by Step: While walking the streets of Gil'ead, you see people muttering to each other. Whenever you near them, however, they stop talking and go about their business. Intrigued, you ask a man about the mutterings. He leans near you and tells you, "They say that ol' Ben Gunn(original name hey?) has been up to something. He's developed a powder of some sorts." You press the man for details, but he knows no more. You ask for directions to Mr. Gunn's house, and find a small shack. You knock and enter. No one is home. You see that the entire house is centered around a large table. You examine the table, and find a complicated forumal for some sort of artificial powder. Around it, the words "explosive", "deadly" and "ignition" are scribbled along with some other illegible words. You also notice a small mound of a black powder. You bring out your flint and steel/tinder box and are about to light it when a voice pierces the quiet. "Freeze! Back away from my powder!" You turn to find a small man with a very large bow pointed right at you. You rush at him, but he wounds you quickly and ties you up to a chair. After hes finished, he explains his new invention. He accidentally discovered a secret mixture that, when lit, explodes violently. He is planning on using this powder to create a new type of weapon. A weapon in which an arrowhead is propelled by the force of the powder. He is naming the new weapon after himself, and calling it a Gunn. He informs you that he plans on using his new weapon to assasinate the king, and now that you know, you must be killed. He leaves a very large mound of black powder in the middle of the house, and attaches a fuse to it. He gathers his papers, lights the fuse and leaves, locking a complicated lock, and leaving you tied in the chair. You hear the lock click, and know you are locked in. You are in luck though! He forgot to strip you of your knife/sword. You weasel it down to your hands, and cut your bonds. After you are free, you have to play a mini-game to break the lock. The mini-game is the one where you guess what numbers/colours go in what order.(If any of you know what Im talking about, give an example please, or a better description) The minigame must be completed in 5 minutes or the house blows up and you start again. After you are out of the house, you have to follow Gunn down to Iliria in order to put an end to his horrible quest. Once their, you search every tavern, bar and inn for him. There will be many low lifes to attack you on the way, like level 5 muggers. Once you find him, you must defeat him. He will be a lower level with a bow, level 15 maybe, and after you defeat him, you find the formula for his Gunn Powder. You decide to burn it, and hope no one ever stumbles upon it again. After burning one page of 5 copies of Gunn Powder formula, you discover a prototype of his Gunn. You must decide whether to keep it or not. The rest will be explained in Rewards.
Rewards: If you chose to take the Gunn, you realize that it was flawed, and will not work. You sell it for scrap parts to a street shop. So, if you choose to take the Gunn, you get about 100 crowns. Regardless of your choice, you loot Ben Gunn of 100 crowns, his bow and 100 arrows.

Lol I like it!! To think a person named Ben Gunn discovered gunpowder!! Your description of it, that is, the arrowhead (bullet) & the gunpowder was awesome (though you'll have to remove an 'n' from his name lol). Keep it up.

Re: Second Quest Contest
No idea. We'll have to ask MD about for how long he's going to keep this thread open. My quest is having some ... technical glitches (in other words I don't have any idea as to how I'm going to further the plot) at the moment lol. So probably I'll submit my 2nd one on Monday.

- Spoiler:
Dificulty: Squire
Objective/Overview: Find and kill what has been kidnapping the carvahall, villagers' pets.
Step By Step: You start the quest in the butcher shop in carvahall. You are chatting with
the butcher and he happens to mention a rumor that has been going around the
village. There has been something kidnapping pets and small children and in their place
was left a small piece of cloth behind for each one.You become curious, and you wish to
solve this mystery, as there is not much else to do in carvahall for the time being. So
you ask around in the local tavern. You meet several people who have lost their pets and
one horrified family who lost their six month old child. As you talk to each one, you ask
general information such as, what they lost, how old it was, if it knew where its home was,
and if it might have just run away. As you learn the location of each house, you begin to
notice a pattern. You pull out your map and lay it on the table your currently sitting at.
you put a glass on every house that has had something or someone taken from it. After plotting
all the points, you see a large circle around the perimiter of carvahall. Right at the centre,
of the circle is the father of the stolen baby's grave (the backyard to be specific.) You decide this was
incredibly interesting, but you must sleep on it. You go to sleep in the local inn, and wake
up to a scream from somewhere near the edge of town, towards the spine. You run over to the
town exit, and find the lone wife in a heap on the road. she is frightened. She tells you that she
has seen her husband again, but that he was not... normal. He was possessed, but not
only that, he was a skeleton. After acquiring this information, you follow the bony footprints
left by the deceased husband. You follow him into the spine. You find him sitting near the place
he was killed, with a shining stone in his hands. Despite not wanting to kill and old friend,
you know you must. Before you attack the husband, you wish to learn something. You know for a fact
that nothing can be re-incarnated, but yet he has come back to life, kind of. You ask him
how he became the way he has and this is what he says:
"after my beloved wife burried me, I lay in my casket. over the years, the bottom of the
casket had become rotten, and I fell through. I landed on this bright stone you see here.
the moment my bones came in touch with it, Energy seeped into me. I felt I had power, the
ability to move. and I had. This stone held the ancient spirit of king Palancar. It turns out
rumors of King Palancar weren't true. It seems that he was killed, because his body was torn
from his soul. Not being fully dead, he still had power, and this power he gave to me, so he
could torment the people who did not save him."
A cloud covers the sun, and the clearing you are standing in is veiled in shadow. Then,
a sudden change change comes over the skeleton. and the spirit that has taken over says:
"I hope you have enjoyed the story boy, but now I must exact my revenge. You saved me not,
so now you shall feel the agony, of having your body ripped from your soul!"
Knowing you have no other choice, You attack. (the skeleton should be around level 20,
or wherever the level of a squire quest should be.)
The skeleton, having nothing else for a weapon, rips off his left arm, to use as a
club. You engage in battle. (if you lose, you just start the battle again). After you win,
you bury the head of the skeleton away from the body, so it may never come to life again.
With nothing left to do, you pick up, the small, and shiny stone and pocket it. You then
collect the small child, that had not been killed by the Palancar spirit, and you return
it to the family.
Reward: The jewel that had once been ensorcelled (spelling?) by King Palancar.
500 crowns collected by the towns people and the people you returned the baby to.

Re: Second Quest Contest
In other words not even Galby is born yet. But yeah, it's quite a good quest, especially the idea of Palancar's spirit/ghost (though spirits/ghosts don't exist in the IC. Yet).

Re: Second Quest Contest
Technically they do, but it is just the form of spirit you are talking about, for the spirits that made Ergy's hand glow are still spirits and Shades are controlled by spirits....

Yes, they are, but I was talking about ghosts, not crackling spheres of energy.

I have edited my quest. now it does not pertain to any specific time frame. I did not know when the game was to be set, but either way, it worked out for the better

Perfect. Since the characters were minor in the IC, it would have probably been okay but thanks anyways

Re: Second Quest Contest
Name:
The Hunt for the Deer
Requirements (To Earn/Start the Quest)
Level 3
Level/Difficulty:
1
Description:
The City of Carvahall is low on meat for the winter. Make your way into the Spine and hunt 3 deer. Return the meat to the town elder to complete the quest.
Reward:
-Low Experience and Crowns
-Peice of Well-Cooked Meet (Consumable)
What I was thinking is that there would be a series of Hunting Quests for Each town/Place. Say 3-5 Quests per town/place
They would start off simple, with the quest above. Then slowly increase in difficulty where you have to use multiple skills to hunt the animals.
The Last quest for Carvahall would be hunt 1 bear.
Then when you complete that quest, you get a hunting quest for another city... They would go in an order like this:
1)Carvahall (Difficulty=1)
-Deer
-Bear
-?
2)Tierm or Dras Leona (Difficulty=2)
-?
-?
-?
3)Uru'Baen (Difficulty=2)
-?
-?
-?
4)Surda (Difficulty=3)
-Scorpion?
-?
-?
5)Beor Mountains (Difficulty=4)
-Shrrg
-Nagra
-Fanghur
6)Ellesmera (Difficulty=4)
-?
-?
-?
7)Vroengard/Doru Araeba (Difficulty=5)
-?
-?
-?
Obviously there are blanks needed to be filled in regarding the animals which we be hunted in the later quests.
The Rewards:
Would be simple, a growing amount of money and experience for each quest.
As for Items, you would get something regarding each city/race that inhabits the city after you complete all 3 quests for that place.
When you complete all of the quests, there would be a LARGE reward... Which would entail medium amounts money and experience, but an EXTREMELY valuable item.
MY Thoughts,
The Joker xD
