Re: Aerial combat
I like the idea Bris. Though there should be a period where you're able to fly freely before you go back into the fight, it can give someone a chance to run away, then after a few seconds there two are forced back into fighting.

Lol, I wouldn't mind Mindrops idea where you could choose areal or ground. If Both of the parties want a particular one the should be able to

Re: Aerial combat
Well it depends on the situation. If you're in a pvp zone there will be no opt, someone flies up and you're gona be there with them. Same goes with wars, etc.

Re: Aerial combat
So what would be a situation where you could choose?

Re: Aerial combat
@Bris:- Nice idea !! But to be sure about it, the grappling phase is the phase where most of the fighting would take place, right?? And will that include using magic & mental attacks??
@DM & MD:- I think that in PvP (or is it RvR??) fights, both parties should have the right to choose between aerial fighting or ground fighting, as there will no other factor influencing/affecting their battle. But in wars, though I know Eragon & Saphira fought most of the Battle of the Burning Plains on land, I think that it should be a full aerial battle, because:-
1) There will be too much confusion on the ground, seeing as there are hundreds of troops fighting there, shooting ballistae, boulders from mangonels, etc. &
2) It'll add to the game (in my opinion) if the Riders/Dragons could suddenly swoop down & slash/breathe fire on a small group of enemy troops while simultaneously avoiding the enemy Riders/Dragons.
Just thought it would be a good idea.

Exactly, that's what he's saying. In PvP, you get to choose and in wars you have to do arial combat

Re: Aerial combat
(He most likely made it himself. You just need a gif file and admin privileges.)
Sorry guys for my delay. I was switching internet providers, so I was gone. Though, during the process, I was working out all the kinks in an arial battle, so here is the entire plan, and it will work for everyone.
First phase of attack: Climbing Phase
-All arial battles are started with a climbing phase, where the Rider and Dragon gain altitude for the next phase. The phase lasts a few seconds, before continuing onto the next one. Camera angle zooms in to behind the Rider's dragon for this and the next phase.
Second phase of attack: Grapple Phase
-At the count of 3, both Dragons collide with each other and begin a decent down towards the ground, giving as much damage to each other. This is where most damage is given in the air. The time of falling lasts for about 10 seconds max, or else you can break off early.
Third phase of attack: Chase Phase
-The dragons break off their attack, and 5 options are available. Repeat the Climbing/Grapple attack, Land on the Ground, (For Rider vs. Rider action) Initiate a Ranged attack, (Magic or arrows) Heal, or Flee. Also during this phase, the camera zooms back out to a birds eye view, and you are allowed to free fly for a few seconds until either player makes the next attack. When recovering from a ranged attack, or decide to take off after fighting on the ground, this phase repeats.
I have a diagram I made today, very simple, but explains it perfectly. Just wish I could show you though.

Re: Aerial combat
There should be a way to show us. Try doing it on paint and then uploading it to tinypic.com. Then just copy the forum link and paste it into a post

Re: Aerial combat
Nice Bris. And all you do is add a reply (not a fast reply) and scroll down. First drop down menu allows you to add an attachment. Select it and you are good to go.
And yes, I made it myself on banner fans. 200x40. Just go into the admin pannel
Users and Groups>>rank administration>>> add rank. Make sure to mark it special rank and just copy and paste the image code into the bar.
Then, users>>>select yourself>>> scroll all the way down and pick your rank.
Can you guys see my banner?

Re: Aerial combat
No, I meant showing it through camera. (of which I have none) Since paint really would not be an option since I'm on a laptop right now, and I suck in drawing with my finger.
